Evolution Solo Week-End in Barcelona- March 4-5-6th 2022
Here it starts people, after its 8 year history of promoting African-American social dance in St. Petersburg, Evolution Solo Weekend finally moved to Europe!
We are opening a new cycle of African-American social dance workshops (including tap dance), and the opening one will be with the one and only, ROXANE BUTTERFLY!
The workshop will take place on MARCH 4-6, in BARCELONA, POBLENOU, and is level flexible: for advanced hoofers as well as those who want to start, and open class on Friday invites everybody for an introduction to the rhythm culture of tap dance.

+ Friday 4.03: OPEN TAP
> 20:15 – 22:15 | an introduction to the culture of HOOFING
Direct heir of the “Original Hoofers” * , _ with whom she performed ongloingly in the New York of the nineties, Roxane Butterfly pulls specific coordination and phrasing exercices from her masters signatures step. These, aim to anchor the basic tap students into the jazz idiom while giving them a cultural understanding of the hoofing tap lexique. This class is fit to all rhythm dancer (swing, hip hop, latin, flamenco….) with or without tap experience.
++ Saturday 5.03:
> 16:00 – 17:45 BEGINNER TAP CLASS : “TAP ROOTS”
This class is open to dancers who wish to understand the world of tap thru its influence on the evolution of jazz music. More than learning (or relearning) the basics from a strictly technical approach, students will tour a musical panoramic (from blues and charleston to swing and bebop), and will get a chance to experience the various feels of jazz thru a tap dancer’s approach. The class is adapted to beginners students but advanced dancers are encouraged to attend so to complete their pedagogy tool-box.
> 16:00 – 17:45 BEGINNER TAP CLASS : “TAP ROOTS”

In the light of the previous 2 classes, Roxane will draw parallelism between her own work and the tap tree she descends from. She will highlight the connection between her creative path with her masters stylistic. “We all are a part of the same constellation” often said Jimmy Slyde. This class proposes to contemplate how all tap stars do reflect each other. Control of the standard tap nomenclature is required to make the best out of this class.
